About Tape Drift

Where lost songs wash up on shore.

Some songs get lost. Tucked away in forgotten regional scenes, left on unlabeled tapes gathering dust in storage units. We believe every voice deserves to be heard, even if it took thirty years to find the right ears.

This is Tape Drift, an investigative music blog that explores the stories behind the music that almost disappeared. We follow the clues, digitize the analog, and restore the voices that drifted away.

Our journey begins with our flagship series, Sun-Bleached Tapes. This investigation follows the mysterious 1995 disappearance of a musician known only as "Drift," who vanished at the end of the summer, leaving behind a shoebox of unlabeled cassettes in an abandoned van. We are piecing together his story and restoring his music for the world to hear.

Tape Drift is a fictional transmedia narrative and the latest world from Great Western Productions. It is a story that unfolds through a series of "found-footage" style artifacts, from investigative blog posts to the official release of "lost" music.
